Louis Williams (born October 27 , 1986 in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American professional basketball player with the Philadelphia 76ers, who drafted him directly out of high school in 2005.
Williams was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but grew up in Snelleville, Georgia. At South Gwinnett he was a four-time All-State selection and was named Georgia's "Mr. Basketball" in his senior year. As a senior, Williams averaged a show stopping 27.5 points, 6.6 rebounds and 5.2 assists per game while leading South Gwinnett to a 28-3 record and fourth place finish in the state.
As a junior, he helped lead his team to 8AAAAA state championship in 2004. Williams also won the 2005 Naismith Prep Player of the Year Award which identifies the nation's top high school player, and was named to the 2005 McDonald's All-American East Team and Parade All-American Team.
Louis committed to play at the University of Georgia, but declared for the for the 2005 NBA Draft. He was selected in the second round of the Draft and was eventually picked 45th overall by the Philadelphia 76ers. During the 2005-06 NBA season Williams played as an NBA rookie for the 76ers, in over 30 games. Williams played very briefly for the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBA Development League on November 28, 2006.
With the Flyers he offered consistent stellar performances in the NBA D-League, averaging 26 points and 8 assists over three games, and with trade rumors surrounding the 76ers' starting point guard Allen Iverson, Williams was called back to the 76ers roster on December 5, 2006. He more recently gets playing time behind starting point guard Andre Miller.
Louis is the son of Janice Faulkner and the late Willie Williams. He is the youngest of three children and has two older siblings, a sister and a brother.
